Boosting memory, sense of self, empathy, and stress

meditate handsA team of researchers led by Dr. Lazar, a neurologist and instructor at Harvard medical school, has discovered that meditating for just 8 weeks can fuel grey-matter in the hippocampus and promote brain ‘growth’. More specifically, the practice of meditation can spark measurable changes in brain regions associated with memory, sense of self, empathy, and stress.

For the study, 16 volunteers took part in Dr. Lazar’s ‘mindfulness’ course, with magnetic resonance (MR) images being taken 2 weeks before and after the study. After just 8 short weeks of practicing mindfulness meditation, her volunteers showed thicker grey matter in several important areas of the brain, including the left hippocampus, a small horseshoe-shaped structure in the central brain involved in memory, learning and emotional regulation.

Additional parts of the brain positively affected by just eight weeks of meditation were posterior the cingulate cortex – also important for memory and emotions; the temporoparietal junction, involved in empathy creation; and the cerebellum, which helps to coordinate movement.

Study senior author Sara Lazar of the MGH Psychiatric Neuroimaging Research Program and a Harvard Medical School instructor in psychology, said:

“Although the practice of meditation is associated with a sense of peacefulness and physical relaxation, practitioners have long claimed that meditation also provides cognitive and psychological benefits that persist throughout the day. This study demonstrates that changes in brain structure may underlie some of these reported improvements and that people are not just feeling better because they are spending time relaxing.”

Britta Hölzel, first author of the paper and a research fellow at MGH and Giessen University in Germany, said:

“It is fascinating to see the brain’s plasticity and that, by practicing meditation, we can play an active role in changing the brain and can increase our well-being and quality of life. Other studies in different patient populations have shown that meditation can make significant improvements in a variety of symptoms, and we are now investigating the underlying mechanisms in the brain that facilitate this change.”

Those who did not go take part in Dr. Lazar’s course experienced no such structural brain changes.

The meditation course seemed to cause the brain to form denser connections among important centers that regulate our behavior and help us to be ‘smart.’

This translates to all sorts of possible benefits – from handling stress better at work and in our lives, to conducting out responsibilities with more élan. Sure, you can cram for those finals, or beat your head against the wall trying to meet a deadline at work, but maybe some life-long meditative practices can help.

Her talk and pictures are highly motivating for those looking for an edge in their industry or who just need some extra oomph to get through their hectic lives.

You can see Dr. Lazar talk about her brain scans in a Ted Talks video here.

Out of Body ExperienceFirstly, it is important to say that before attempting to use any of the Techniques for inducing an Out of Body Experience, you should be fully-relaxed in mind and body. Out-of-Body-Experience.info contains lots of information and tips in order to reach the desired state of mind.

Inducing an Out of Body Experience is not something to be forced, and without sufficient relaxation, you are unlikely to project successfully! Read about Out of Body Experience techniques, by all means, but do understand that until you have mastered relaxation and trance-states, you will not be able to do much with them. Learn about how to enter a Deep Trance here!

Now, that said, here are the Seven Best Techniques for Inducing an Out of Body Experience:

1. Inducing an Out of Body Experience Using The Rope Technique
The Rope Projection technique is said to have been devised by Robert Bruce, one of the foremost figures in the world of Astral Projection. The idea was for a method of projection that would be effective for people who were without sight, and therefore relies more on tactile experience than visual memories. The technique hinges around an imaginary rope that hangs above you from the ceiling.

As you lie on your bed, you imagine the rope hanging down towards you, and what you do is visualize yourself (or rather, your Astral Self) taking hold of the rope, and pulling yourself up the rope, one hand at a time, all the while concentrating on the sensations as you climb upwards. Be aware of the feeling of the rope against your hands, and the motion of your body as you pull yourself up from your bed, and concentrating also on the feelings of your arms slowly but surely pulling yourself upwards.

The Rope Technique is extraordinarily successful at inducing an Out of Body Experience, even in people who have struggled for a long time to see any results. Quite quickly, a feeling of fairly intense vertigo is experienced, and projection is generally instantaneous, provided the student has kept themselves calm and relaxed throughout.

2. Out of Body Experience using the Ladder Technique
Occasionally, people have difficulty with the rope technique for astral projection, as they just don’t feel that their imaginary hands and arms are strong enough to hold them and pull them up the rope. This may sound strange to you, but it is a phenomenon more common than you would think!

In this instance, a ladder may be imagined hanging from the ceiling, instead, which has the benefit of allowing the would-be Astral Projector to use his or her feet, as well as the hands.

All other aspects of this method remain the same as with the Rope Projection Technique.

3. Out of Body Experience with the Point Shift Method

The next two techniques for Out of Body Experiences are slightly more traditional and also more difficult for many people. However, some people take to these kinds of Astral Projection techniques like a duck to water, and it is certainly good to have as many different methods under your belt as possible.

The point shift method involves becoming intensely aware of your own body, and then mapping out in your imagination where everything in your room is, in relation to you and each other. It is for this reason that it requires quite a lot of concentration.

Once this stage has been reached, you then can feel yourself float, just a few inches, at first, and then visualise all of your surroundings from that new perspective. The idea is to feel as if you have already projected out of you body, and keeping your awareness of where you are and what you visualize from the view-point of your imaginary self!

Finally, you slowly rise from your physical body. This takes what can only be described as a very relaxed form of will-power. Some force is necessary, but you must not allow your body to become tense. Congratulations, you have projected, and once this method of Astral Projection is mastered, you will find it far easier to project under almost any circumstances.

4. Using the Self-Visualization Method for Astral Travel
This is the first method I learned to induce an Out of Body Experience with!

Like the Point Shift method, it is among the more difficult for many people, and this probably accounts for many of my early struggles to master Astral Projection. However, once learnt it is a good technique that only becomes quicker with practice!

At the heart of this technique for inducing an Out of Body Experience is creating a detailed, life-like double of yourself. I find it works well either lying down or seated, but it works best in an environment you are very familiar with. Visualize yourself, starting at the feet, and working your way up, including any details you believe will help your body-double to feel real to you.

Sometimes I imagine really intricate detail, from buttons to eyebrow hairs, and other times I imagine in much broader strokes.

With some effort, you can now allow your body-double to stand up or sit up.

At this point you may start to feel a pressure in your head or in your chest.

Don’t panic, as this is the projection point kicking in. If all goes to plan, your awareness will now have shifted entirely to the projected body.

5. The Rolling-Out Technique for Projection
Not a complete system for Astral Projection, in itself, but more of an aid, for when projection has not quite been successful. I generally alternate this technique with others when projection is proving difficult, or use it to finish the projection after using the rope technique.

This is a method of inducing an Out of Body Experience while in bed or in a reclining position. It is effective because the act of rolling in your bed is something that we each experience many times a night, and the familiarity of this action makes it easy to visualize for the purpose of helping to induce an Out of Body Experience.

Simply “feel yourself” rolling back and forth in your bed, and allow your imagined view point to reflect each new position. This technique for Astral Projection is quite often enough to trigger a successful Out of Body Experience, even when you have found yourself struggling using other methods. I have to say, though, that I have seldom found it effective on its own.

6. The Driving System for Out of Body Experiences
Another effective system, that I believe was also discovered by the great Robert Bruce. As I describe it, it will become apparent that this technique for Astral Projection is not one of the more traditional methods!

You may have noticed, while driving, or playing a computer driving game, that concentrating on the driving, while the views from outside move quickly past, constantly changing, you can easily find yourself in a trance. We can often lose track of time, or get to a destination without really remembering the journey.

We can use our remembered experiences to help induce astral travel, by recollecting the feeling of motion combined with the ever-changing and moving landscape. This should result in a deep trance state quite quickly, allowing the projector to now switch to another method, say the rope technique, to make the actual projection.

Personally, I have rarely used this method for inducing an OBE. It certainly works; however I do have a concern that using this method could easily train the practitioner of Astral Projection to always associate the feelings of driving with entering into a deep trance state. This would be undesirable, for obvious reasons!

7. The Picture Technique for Projection into a Virtual Reality
I have saved the most exciting and unusual method of Astral Projection for last!

After having entered a trance state, fully mentally and physically relaxed, the picture technique for Astral Projection can yield some quite stunning results. I did this first by accident, an did not succeed in replicating it until a couple of years later.

You want to use a picture, which can be a painting or a photograph, and allow yourself to imagine yourself in the landscape. Looking at a reflection of that picture in a mirror increases the feeling of depth in the image, which I think was a crucial part of me mastering this technique for Out of Body Experience.

Really “feeling” and “seeing” the details around you is the key for making this Astral Projection technique work. Start by allowing an imaginary view-point to get closer and closer to the image, and then gently but firmly push your consciousness actually into the picture. This technique allows the Astral Traveler to explore a virtual world or worlds, and also use this as a starting point for travelling to other Astral Worlds.

One problem that people often find with Astral Projection is that they can successfully project to a specific place or Astral realm, but shortly find the destination morphing into somewhere different. The Picture technique for Out of Body Experience neatly side-steps these kinds of problems, transporting the traveler to a much more clearly defined world, that you could visit and explore many times, and results of each exploration are much more likely to be consistent.

This is not the easiest Astral Projection technique to master, but its results will speak for themselves, if you are prepared to put in the extra effort!

Aboriginal stories say Fitzroy Island on the Great Barrier Reef was connected to the mainland. It was, at least 10,000 years ago. Felix Dziekan

In the beginning, as far back as we remember, our home islands were not islands at all as they are today. They were part of a peninsula that jutted out from the mainland and we roamed freely throughout the land without having to get in a boat like we do today. Then Garnguur, the seagull woman, took her raft and dragged it back and forth across the neck of the peninsula letting the sea pour in and making our homes into islands.

So goes an Aboriginal story, paraphrased, about the origin of the Wellesley Islands in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria, a story with parallels along every part of the coast of Australia. Along the south coast, stories written down early in colonial times told when these areas were dry, a time when people hunted kangaroo and emu there, before the water rose and flooded them, never again to recede.

In a recent paper we presented at an indigenous language conference in Japan, we analysed 18 stories from around Australia’s coast. All tell tales of coastal flooding. We argue that these stories (and probably many others) recall coastal inundation as sea levels reached their present level at least 6,000-7,000 years ago.

The end of the ice ages
Around Australia, we know that at the coldest time of the last ice age about 20,000 years ago, sea level stood about 120 meters below its present level.

When the last ice age began to end, a few thousand years later, huge masses of ice that had built up on the land, particularly in the northern hemisphere, began melting. Water poured into the world’s oceans, raising their levels in ways that are now well understood.

By about 13,000 years ago, sea level had risen to around 70 meters below its present level. One thousand years later, it had risen to about 50 meters below present.

These dates give us a ballpark for how old stories of flooding may be. Could they have reached us from 13,000 years ago?

Tracing tales
Several decades ago, linguists working with Aboriginal groups along the Queensland coastal margin recorded stories about a time when the ancestors of these people lived at the coast “where the Great Barrier Reef now stands”.

One version of the story collected from the Yidindji people of the Cairns area recalls a time when Fitzroy Island was part of the mainland and offshore Green Island was four times larger. The story describes several named landmarks with remembered historical-cultural associations that are now underwater.

We can be almost certain that the people of this area did occupy the coast “where the Great Barrier Reef now stands” during the last ice age for it would have comprised broad floodplains and undulating hills with a range of subsistence possibilities, bordered in most parts by steep cliffs plunging down to the narrow shore.

The question is whether the details in these stories recall this time for, if they do, then the story might date from as much as 13,000 years ago. A more conservative interpretation, based on a sea level just 30 meters lower than today, would place the age of this story at around 10,000 years ago.

Similar stories come from Spencer Gulf in southern Australia. Those from the Narrangga people of Yorke Peninsula recall the time when there was no Spencer Gulf, only “marshy country reaching into the interior” lying just above the ocean surface and dotted with “freshwater lagoons” where birds and other animals flocked.

One day the sea came in, perhaps through the breaching of a natural barrier, and the area has since been submerged. If these stories refer to flooding across the outermost lip of Spencer Gulf, which today lies around 50 meters below present sea level, then they may have originated 12,000 years ago. Even if they refer to inundation of the central part of the Gulf, they are likely to be more than 9,000 years old.

Ancient stories
How sea levels changed after the ice ages around Australia is now well known. So if these stories are accepted as authentic and based on observations of coastal flooding, it is clear that they must be of extraordinary antiquity.

Historical Record of Sea Levels

The historical record shows when parts of the Australian coast flooded. Nick Reid & Patrick Nunn, Author provided

How do we know that these stories are authentic? We suggest that because they all say essentially the same thing, it is more likely that they are based on observation. All tell of the ocean rising over areas that had previously been dry. None tell stories running the other way – of seas falling to expose land.

The huge distances separating the places from which the stories were collected – as well as their unique, local contexts – makes it unlikely that they derived from a common source that was invented.

For such reasons, we regard the common element in these stories about sea level inundating coastal lowlands, sometimes creating islands, as based on observations of such an event and preserved through oral traditions.

Is Australia unique?
The rise of sea level since the last ice age from 120 meters below present occurred not just around Australia but around the world, inundating significant parts of all continents.

We might expect to find comparable collections of sea-level rise stories from all parts of the globe, but we do not. Perhaps they exist, but have been dismissed on account of an improbable antiquity by scholars adhering to the more orthodox view that oral traditions rarely survive more than a millennium.

Another possibility is that Australia is genuinely unique in having such a canon of stories. That invites questions about why and how Australian Aboriginal cultures may have achieved transmission of information about real events from such deep time.

The isolation of Australia is likely to be part of the answer. But it could also be due to the practice and nature of contemporary Aboriginal storytelling. This is characterized by a conservative and explicit approach to “the law”, value given to preserving information, and kin-based systems for tracking knowledge accuracy.

This could have built the inter-generational scaffolding needed to transmit stories over vast periods, possibly making these stories unique in the world.

This conclusion in turn raises many interesting questions.

Most of North America’s megafauna—mastodons, short-faced bears, giant ground sloths, saber-toothed cats and American camels and horses disappeared close to 13,000 years ago at the end of the Pleistocene period. The cause of this massive extinction has long been debated by scientists who, until recently, could only speculate as to why.

A group of scientists, including UC Santa Barbara’s James Kennett, professor emeritus in the Department of Earth Science, posited that a comet collision with Earth played a major role in the extinction. Their hypothesis suggests that a cosmic-impact event precipitated the Younger Dryas period of global cooling close to 12,800 years ago. This cosmic impact caused abrupt environmental stress and degradation that contributed to the extinction of most large animal species then inhabiting the Americas. According to Kennett, the catastrophic impact and the subsequent climate change also led to the disappearance of the prehistoric Clovis culture, known for its big game hunting, and to human population decline.

In a new study published this week in the Journal of Geology, Kennett and an international group of scientists have focused on the character and distribution of nanodiamonds, one type of material produced during such an extraterrestrial collision. The researchers found an abundance of these tiny diamonds distributed over 50 million square kilometers across the Northern Hemisphere at the Younger Dryas boundary (YDB). This thin, carbon-rich layer is often visible as a thin black line a few meters below the surface.

Kennett and investigators from 21 universities in six countries investigated nanodiamonds at 32 sites in 11 countries across North America, Europe and the Middle East. Two of the sites are just across the Santa Barbara Channel from UCSB: one at Arlington Canyon on Santa Rosa Island, the other at Daisy Cave on San Miguel Island.

“We conclusively have identified a thin layer over three continents, particularly in North America and Western Europe, that contain a rich assemblage of nanodiamonds, the production of which can be explained only by cosmic impact,” Kennett said. “We have also found YDB glassy and metallic materials formed at temperatures in excess of 2200 degrees Celsius, which could not have resulted from wildfires, volcanism or meteoritic flux, but only from cosmic impact.”

The team found that the YDB layer also contained larger than normal amounts of cosmic impact spherules, high-temperature melt-glass, grapelike soot clusters, charcoal, carbon spherules, osmium, platinum and other materials. But in this paper the researchers focused their multi-analytical approach exclusively on nanodiamonds, which were found in several forms, including cubic (the form of diamonds used in jewelry) and hexagonal crystals.

“Different types of diamonds are found in the YDB assemblages because they are produced as a result of large variations in temperature, pressure and oxygen levels associated with the chaos of an impact,” Kennett explained. “These are exotic conditions that came together to produce the diamonds from terrestrial carbon; the diamonds did not arrive with the incoming meteorite or comet.”

James P. Kennett, professor emeritus in UCSB's Department of Earth Science

Based on multiple analytical procedures, the researchers determined that the majority of the materials in the YDB samples are nanodiamonds and not some other kinds of minerals. The analysis showed that the nanodiamonds consistently occur in the YDB layer over broad areas.

“There is no known limit to the YDB strewnfield which currently covers more than 10 percent of the planet, indicating that the YDB event was a major cosmic impact,” Kennett said. “The nanodiamond datum recognized in this study gives scientists a snapshot of a moment in time called an isochron.”

To date, scientists know of only two layers in which more than one identification of nanodiamonds has been found: the YDB 12,800 years ago and the well-known Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary 65 million years ago, which is marked by the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, ammonites and many other groups.

“The evidence we present settles the debate about the existence of abundant YDB nanodiamonds,” Kennett said. “Our hypothesis challenges some existing paradigms within several disciplines, including impact dynamics, archaeology, paleontology and paleoceanography/paleoclimatology, all affected by this relatively recent cosmic impact.”

Younger Dryas Boundary Impact field

The graphic shows the vast swathe of our planet that geologists call the Younger Dryas Boundary Field. The tell-tale traces of multiple impacts by the fragments of a giant comet have been found across this huge “fingerprint”, spanning North America, Central America, parts of South America, most of Europe and parts of the Middle East as well. Some of these comet fragments were two kilometers or more in diameter.

They are estimated to have hit the Earth like a blast from a cosmic scatter-gun around 12,800 years ago. This was near the end of the last Ice Age, from which our world had been emerging into a pleasant warming phase, but these impacts set in train a kind of “nuclear winter” and plunged the planet back into a period of deep cold and darkness that lasted until around 11,500 years ago. It is this period of extreme cold that is referred to as the Younger Dryas (after a characteristic Alpine tundra wildflower, Dryas octopetala) but it is only now, with conclusive evidence of the comet impact, that we can be sure what caused it.

For the past seven years academics have been involved in such an intense dispute about whether or not a comet impact actually occurred 12,800 years ago that the implications of what it might have meant for the story of civilization have not yet been considered. But every attempt to refute the impact evidence has in turn been refuted, and the case for the Younger Dryas comet is now so compelling that it is time to widen the debate.

Fingerprint Of A Global Cataclysm
It is clear now that some of the largest fragments of the comet hit the North American ice cap, which was still a mile deep 12,800 years ago, and caused cataclysmic flooding (I had the opportunity to explore some of the extraordinary effects of this on the ground in September 2014 when I drove from Portland, Oregon, to Minneapolis, Minnesota, with catastrophist researcher Randall Carlson).

Simultaneously other large fragments hit the northern European ice cap with the same cataclysmic effects. The result was a global disaster that lasted for 1,300 years. It is, I believe, the “smoking gun” that made us a species with amnesia and wiped out almost all traces of a former high civilization of prehistoric antiquity. But there were survivors, who preserved at least some of the knowledge of the civilization that had been destroyed with the intention of transmitting it to future generations, so it is not an accident that the first traces of the re-emergence of civilization, in the form of the earliest known megalithic architecture and the re-promulgation of agricultural skills, occur at Gobekli Tepe in Turkey 11,500 years ago — a date that coincides exactly with the end of the Younger Dryas and the return to a more congenial global environment.

Everything we have been taught about the origins of civilization occurs after 11,500 years ago — in other words, after the radical punctuation mark of the Younger Dryas. It is what happened before that we desperately need to recover. These are amongst the mysteries that I am exploring in Magicians of the Gods, the book that I have been researching for the past three years and am now in the midst of writing.

His books have sold more than five million copies worldwide and have been translated into 27 languages. His public lectures, radio and TV appearances, including two major TV series for Channel 4 in the UK (Quest For The Lost Civilisation) and The Learning Channel in the US (Flooded Kingdoms of the Ice Age) have put his ideas before audiences of tens of millions. He has become recognized as an unconventional thinker who raises controversial questions about humanity’s past.

In 2002 Hancock published Underworld: Flooded Kingdoms of the Ice Age to great critical acclaim, and hosted the accompanying major TV series. This was the culmination of years of research and on-hand dives at ancient underwater ruins. Arguing that many of the clues to the origin of civilization lay underwater, flooded at the end of the last Ice age, Underworld offered tangible archaeological evidence that myths and legends of ancient floods were not to be dismissed.

Hancock’s most recent ventures include Talisman: Sacred Cities, Secret Faith which explores evidence of the continuation into modern times of a secret astronomical cult, Supernatural: Meetings with The Ancient Teachers of Mankind, an investigation of shamanism and the origins of religion, and his latest book Entangled, a work inspired by his experience of the visionary brew Ayahuasca.

body-mind.jpgTony Crisp, Prevent Disease | Are you the same person now that you were fifteen years ago? In fact, are you the same person you were just seven years ago? Most of us have heard the old saying that every cell in the body is changed over a period of seven years; but recent investigation has uncovered facts of far more significance to us as human beings. This concerns the emotional, physical and mental changes that seem to occur in approximate seven-year intervals. Of course there are no fixed boundaries and so one may achieve these levels of maturity at any period of our life. so what follows are simply the general changes you may find.

Every 7 Years Your Body, Mind and Spirit Evolve in These Ways

Rudolph Steiner, the great teacher of Anthroposophy said that the seven-year cycles continue throughout life, and are of the utmost importance to doctors, teachers, psychiatrists and the social sciences. Without some smattering of these changes it is difficult for anyone to understand the relationship of any given individual with his or her environment. So I have tried to summaries what Steiner and others have said about the cycles.

Before the definition is started, I feel it is important to say that as humans, in fact as any life form, we are creatures of great polarities. Or as the philosopher Erwin Goodenough said, “A book on love, loyalty or justice would gain little but pedantry by starting out with a concise definition of the term. Only as we describe the various conflicting elements associated with such words can we finally arrive at a meaning that includes these complexities; for important matters we understand, not as we simplify, but as we tolerate the paradoxical.”

One of the great paradoxes of our lives are that we constantly go through such enormous such massive changes every day. Daily we pass through an extraordinary change that we often take so much for granted we miss the wonder of it. The change occurs between sleeping and waking. For most of us being awake is when we most fully feel ourselves. Compared with this sleeping is a period during which we lose any focused awareness of being an individual, and we sink into what is generally called unconsciousness — the lack of personal awareness.

This swing between waking and sleeping can be seen as the extremes within the possibilities of our experience. Sleeping and waking are the polarities, the North and South Poles of what we can confront. In quite a real sense we can say there is nothing beyond what is included in those polarities. But there is an enormous difference between waking experience and the experience of dreamless sleep. Yes, one can have an experience of what is considered deep unconsciousness. In waking we have a sensation of time, of being in a locality, of separateness and even isolation. But at the other end of that polarity we have a sense of timelessness and non-locality. What was a sense of self merges into an ocean of awareness. See Levels of Awareness in Sleeping and Waking.

0-7 years

One of the most important of these cycles is the first, from birth to seven years of age. Its importance lies in the fact that it is the beginning of everything, the foundation upon which the later structure will be built. Birth gives individual life to an infant body. Even at birth, this small being already has its given potential of intelligence, creativity and personality. But this potential has to come to terms with its environment, which includes its own body. In a human being we cannot have awareness without consciousness; we cannot have thinking without the tools of thought such as language, concepts or ideas. So during our early years we are largely moved by the instincts of hunger, need for love, protection and support, along with pain and the impact of our environment. All this while we build up the inner, mental structures that in later years will allow us to think, to feel, and to be aware of ourselves as an individual.

One of the most important of these inputs is that of the unconscious behavioral responses we learn. From the moment you are born, perhaps even prior to that, you are learning, or there are pressed upon you, responses to what you are experiencing. The culture you are born into is a huge ready-made set of behavioral responses. For instance, an Australian aborigine would easily respond to a huge living grub/caterpillar by eating it. This would be a very difficult behavioral response for most Northern Europeans or Americans. As babies we learned everything from whether you respond to opportunity with fear or eagerness; to love with fear of warmth; to food as a glutton or with healthy appetite.

At birth there is a very different physical and glandular system than in later years. For a start the sexual organs have not developed, meaning responses to sex and sensation are very global. Also the thymus is very large and in later years becomes smaller. It has been said this, in these early years, gives the child a very primitive response to truth, right and wrong, and what later become moral codes. So the child only slowly develops any real sense of social morality.

But something so mysterious happens to us during this first seven years that once done it can never be undone. The Roman Catholic Church recognizes this by saying that if they can have the first seven years of a child’s life, that is all they need to insure a lifelong influence. Napoleon also observed that as the twig is bent, so the tree will grow. This is borne out by seeing the cases of children who have been lost and brought up by animals during these formative years. Even with the best tuition they never learn to become a self aware personality as we know it. Time is a mystery to them, and even though their brain size and function is normal, they never approach the usual capabilities that education gives to modern women and men. So, in the first cycle we pass through an incredible process of learning. This includes motor movements, speech, relationship to ourselves and to our environment. And that means learning a vast amount about what is useful, entertaining or harmful; about what responses we get from others, and developing habits of response that may be difficult to change in later years. We learn a sense of personal awareness and move toward becoming an individual. In other words, we learn to say “I” and know what we mean.

The learning of language is like a powerful computer program that gives us the ability to develop an identity and self awareness. This is shown again by children reared by animals. Language also adds limitations which we can overcome if we recognize them.

Steiner also says that during this first stage of development the developing inner forces are working to transform the body of the child from one that was inherited from the parents, to one that represents the full personality of the child. See Animal Children.

Something often overlooked about the stages of growth are ones emotional age.

From age zero we are completely dependent upon the loved person for our needs, physical, emotional and social. Great anger, jealousy or pain are felt if the loved one relates to anyone else, is lost, or threatens to leave. If we do not mature beyond this emotional age, in adulthood this enormous feeling reaction may also be felt at a time of emotional withdrawal of the partner, even if there is no sign of them withdrawing physically. In the infant and toddler there is a desire for unconditional love and a need to be always with the loved one. In an adult with this level of love, sex may be a part of the relationship, but the main need is a bonded connection. This is sometimes felt as a need to have the loved person want you as much, or as desperately, as you want/need them. Possibly the greatest fear, one that can trigger great anger or an enormous desire to placate or earn love, is the threat or fear of being abandoned. The second cycle, from seven to fourteen, continues this growth. The concepts and association of ideas and emotions that began in the first cycle begin to be discovered by the child. The physical changes also prepare the growing personality for the next stage. The thymus gland decreases rapidly in size, allowing the development of a sense of right and wrong, and social responsibility. A sign of this physical and psychological growth is the losing of the milk teeth and the emergence of our adult teeth. This marks an entrance into a new maturity.

The child has learned, with the advent of its concepts and developing emotions, to create an inner world of its own. It is a world of heroes, danger and vivid imagination. As the thymus fades, and the sexual organs develop, the personality glides into the turbulent world of puberty and adolescence.

Sometimes it is already evident, even from the preceding cycle, the direction of interest and activity the child will take in maturity. Although for the very observant this might be seen in very early years, it becomes more evident as one approaches puberty.

In all a time of inner expansion. You begin to experience and test abilities in the broader sense of the outside world. You may learn to share and interact, controlling earlier instincts in favour of group dynamics. The habits learned in the first period are now part of the character of the growing child.

14-21 years

This is the third cycle, from fourteen to twenty-one. During it we become conscious of ourselves in a new way, and with a different relationship to life. One might say we become “self conscious.” The emotional range expands in all directions, and with this a new appreciation of music, art, literature and people begins. It is found for instance that at puberty the ability to distinguish subtler tones of colour and sound develops. Besides this the person might go through the difficult struggle of breaking away from home life and/or parental influence. It naturally produces conflict as the person learns some degree of independence. Also, the opposite sex, or sex as a urgent impulse, usually becomes all important as the new emotions pour in upon our personality. See Example 5 for information about facing adolescence.

Because of the new range of feelings, many youths experience a different relationship to religion and life’s mysteries. All this, as one approaches twenty-one, produces an individual with some sense of social and individual responsibility, or if not that the beginning or a sense of a direction or life purpose. This might not be recognized as such at the time. But it is a time of searching for life purpose, independence, a realization of choices plus a testing of social and personal limitations as well as an awareness of a burgeoning sexuality. As this is a traumatic period of life for most of us, it is also likely to be a time of many unforgettable dreams.

The period is a time of adding maturity, dignity and poise to the person. If these changes have not occurred by twenty-one, then the person has in some way not covered necessary aspects of development, and both psychology and the law recognizes that they are lacking maturity.

This period is one of great and sweeping changes, physically, emotionally, morally and mentally. Such enormous changes often do not occur without an experience of loss. In this case the world of childhood is fading, or it might even be torn away, leaving scars.

It is also a time when many new features of the personality have their beginning, i.e. the religious sense, appreciation of the beautiful, etc. Although such things have their beginnings here, they sometimes remain undeveloped until later years. Because of these changes, and because such a lot is being revealed in these years, it is obvious why so much thought should be given to early marriage. Because of one’s changing viewpoint, the particular partner one would choose at seventeen or eighteen, is likely to be different to the partner chosen at twenty-one and beyond.

The emotional development at this age is possibly seen as initial uncertainty or clumsiness concerning emotional and sexual contact. It often involves desire to explore many relationships, unless there are forces of introversion or personal and social uncertainty at work. We are still finding out what our boundaries and needs are, and the sexual drive as at full flood.. Any partner we have at this time may be loved for ones own needs – rather than out of recognition of who the other person is. Great romantic feelings and spontaneous love which are often difficult to maintain in face of difficulties. See Programmed

21-28 years

The cycle that follows from twenty-one to twenty-eight, can more or less be called a process of enlargement and refinement. It is the period that we mentally and emotionally enter into adulthood. We start to build the foundations of our careers and intimate relationships with a driving energy that we hope will gain us entry and respect in the larger world.

One of the most marked features is the developing sense of discrimination. The faculties of insight, intuition, judgement and understanding begin to come to the fore. The personality softens and begins to mellow. The sparks of interest that were awakened in the previous cycles begin to be developed along more definite lines. The abilities of the last cycle also flourish. The adult emotional age may begin to emerges if one has successfully grown through the previous levels. This shows as a growing sense of recognizing needs of ones partner yet not denying ones own. It is followed by an ability to be something for the partners sake without losing ones own independence or will. One becomes more aware of the issues that colour or influence relationship, and meeting them in cooperation with others. Independence and connection can appear together instead of opposite ends of a spectrum. You move toward becoming caring sexual partners through discovering each others needs and vulnerability.

In this period you will begin to confront the issue that you were either born with, or arose through the challenges and pains of your infancy and childhood. These usually show as the way you handle intimate relationships, whether you can really meet in partnership with the opposite sex, and how you respond to the external world, its challenges and opportunities.

At this time what is revealed may not be addressed as a personal problem or issues to be healed or re-evaluated. They will be faced more directly later if they are not dealt with now.
28-35 years

The changes become more subtle as the years pass. The next cycle from twenty eight to thirty-five, for instance, is one where the creative process of mind becomes most active. Researchers and inventors seem to make their greatest advances during these years. It is interesting to note that physical science finds evidence of the reason for this in the fact that the association centers of the brain come to their peak efficiency at about thirty-five years of age.

This is even more interesting when we see that most of the great religious teachers and philosophers came to some vital experience at thirty-five. Jesus, Buddha, Paul, Dante and Jacob Behmen were all in the region of thirty-five at the point of their greatest insights. It would seem then, that if there is an inspirational influence at work in the life, it would possibly reach its peak during these years in and around thirty-five.

Here we take stock of ourselves and the emotional influences that have shaped our personality. We begin to determine what is us and what traits we have been pressured by family, peers or society to adopt.

35-42 years

From the thirty-fifth to the forty-second year, depending upon one’s personality and what one’s circumstances allow, one begins to feel a new restlessness. In some degree a desire to share whatever one has gained through life with others comes to the surface. Thus we find many successful business men building libraries, or aiding colleges and the arts at this period in their life. What has been developed or realized can be taken to greater subtlety during this period. This is almost like unfolding something, perhaps similar to the way a flower unfolds a bud that has been developing in earlier phases of its growth.

This is when we reassess the results of what we are doing externally in our life. Our relationships, careers, habits and the ways we interact are all put under scrutiny and modified or changed. It’s a time of facing up to what does and what doesn’t satisfy us.

You may reach heights or realization and creativity not touched previously. The profound breakthrough of ones innate genius that emerges around this time will no doubt be expressed in some degree. However, whatever is attained or realized will be enlarged and synthesized in later periods.

42-49 years

In the next cycle from forty-two until forty-nine a major change usually takes place. It is as if one takes all of one’s life experience up till this age and begins to digest it, and extract from it new ideals and a new direction in life. There is often tremendous unrest in this period and that following it. The unlived aspects of life cry out to be recognized and allowed. The desire to make a mark in life if it has not already been achieved presses for action here.

At this point it appears to many of us that we have reached the mid point of our life and from here on there will be a decline. Even if this is not so it is often felt very strongly and acted upon in one way of another. People change partners, life directions, and even attempt major personal changes, although these latter may have begun in the last cycle.

Also, the emotional age and the maturing of love may at last show signs of an unconditional love. If this is not appearing in small degree, it might be one is still locked in earlier ages. Strangely, many of us maintain the emotional age of a child right into mature years, feeling all the fear of abandonment, jealousy and possessiveness of our childhood. Many divorces and new directions appear around this period.

In these years we move from old stereotypical roles with a new found confidence in our individuality. We are prepared to please our self, rather than society and gain a real understanding of our uniqueness, accompanied by a sense of urgency to express our true self before it gets too late.

I put the following dreams in to illustrate some of what is met in this and perhaps the next period.

“Last night I had a dream which shook me somewhat, and I wonder what you make of it. I am a mature 40 year -old, don’t normally dream, and am not unduly fanciful, but this dream has really shaken me. It felt like death. In the dream, my husband and I are at some sort of social club. The people there are ex-workmates of mine and I am having a wonderful time and am very popular. My husband is enjoying my enjoyment. Then he and I are traveling down a country lane in an open horse-drawn carriage. It is very dark and is in the area we used to live in. We come to a bridge, and as we arrive at the brow of the bridge a voice says, ‘Fair lady, come to me.’ My body is suddenly lying flat and starts to rise. I float and everything is black, warm and peaceful. Then great fear comes over me and I cry out my husband’s name over and over. I get colder and slip in and out of the blackness. Then I start to wake up. It takes a tremendous effort, as my body is very heavy. I am extremely cold and absolutely terrified, with a feeling of horror. There seems to be something evil here. I force myself to get up in the dark and go downstairs. Even with the light on I feel the presence of great evil.”

The first part of this woman’s dream and what she says of herself shows her as an outgoing person, with a happy disposition. She likes people, and they like her; she is probably good looking, and healthy. She feels herself successful at what she has worked, and has left having acquired friends. The relationship she has with her husband is also depicted as one in which pleasure can be allowed within caring independence. Her dream image of herself is therefore created out of her own confidence. Dreams frequently summaries the quality of ones life and the ‘story so far’ in their first scene.

The second scene is made up of several parts – the journey, the woman’s relationship with her husband, the force of nature symbolized by the horses and the countryside, and the unknown seen as the bridge and the voice. To understand what this reveals of the dreamer, look at the vital clues: what she has said about herself and what she felt in the dream. If you strip away images to see what attitudes or emotions are exposed, you can see the forces behind the dream plot. The most poignant statement she makes is in saying, “It felt like death.”

If we consider the central image of the dream, the hump-backed bridge, in relation to what she says about her age, the feelings of death’s approach make sense. When you approach a hump-backed bridge you climb, but at the very brow, the descent begins. Isn’t that a powerful symbol of life? In our younger years our strength, sexuality and ability to meet life with resourcefulness and independence increase, until middle age, when the decline sets in. You cross over – as this woman crosses the bridge – from one type of experience or view of life to another. The passage of time is seen here as the horses pulling her carriage inexorably towards the change.

But the dream’s beauty, its depth and drama, are in the voice, and in the discovery of how death ‘feels’. They tell us something about women’s inner lives, PLURAL. They reveal how, in her prime, a woman confronts change and the view of death in a way few men do. “Fair lady” the voice of change calls, “come to me.” And it beckons the dreamer towards a hefty mid-life crisis, asking her to exchange her sexual peak, her firm body, her fertility, for the different perspective of post-menopause.

Many women – men too of course – gain their sense of value as a person from their ‘attractiveness’. Losing whatever it is that makes them sexually desirable and socially popular – or fearing that they are losing it – will lead to a significant change in their way of life and their feelings about themselves. This is what makes the dreamer call for her husband. This is what produces the feeling of isolation and terror. A woman needs reassurance and love at this point in her life. She may behave indecisively and deflect the advances of her man through a lack of self-esteem.

Fortunately the human personality is resilient. Even though we are reared to identify ourselves with what our body looks like, what it can do, what sex it is, what age it is, and how others react to it, we CAN grow to mature independence without constant reassurance.

Some people create these nocturnal horror movies when leaving school or sitting exams. But middle age is just another phase of life, with as much potential for growth and love as any other phase – and as much room for failure. This woman fears what she imagines middle age will do to her. The dream isn’t an intuition of her future.

Here is a dream from a man in the same age period.

I recently reached my fortieth birthday and dreamed I was walking uphill. It was quite tough going. When I got to the top I saw the road on the other side was very steep. I felt frightened of going down it. I looked around and saw that the top of the hill stretched away on each side, so there was plenty of space, like a plateau. I realize that I can walk around and there is no hurry to go down the hill. – John H. London.

I commented on this dream by saying that before you actually got to middle age you obviously had the idea that it leads directly to a fast decline – going down hill. Your dream corrects this by showing that in fact you have worked hard to climb to a plateau of ability and possibilities that you can now explore. Each portion of life has its rewards, and in fact you depict this period of your life as more relaxed than the first half.

To balance this view a little, if there are still past difficulties to be faced, these will certainly present themselves. But a drive in many people is in some way to actualize themselves, to express themselves in a satisfying way. If we use the analogy of a plant, it is as if they have grown and reached full stature, but for some reason have not flowered and spread seeds. They have not produced fruit.

There is no one way in which people feel or seek this fruition prior to death. But it does become an imperative for many. It may involve receiving or giving love. It might be a need for expressing in one of the arts, or simply in breaking away from habits and roaming the world. The next dream illustrates this theme.

I flew over a farmyard and a large pig saw me and began to chase me as a dog might, but with the sense that he/she wanted to eat me. She chased me snapping and leaping into the air trying to ‘get’ me. I felt a bit apprehensive at times that she would get my leg. This lowered my confidence in flying and I began to worry about altitude, and flew over a barbed wire fence and the pig and her young could not follow. I flew low over small trees that were just coming into leaf. They were beautiful soft green leaves. I knew it was autumn and the leaves were only just coming out because it had been a cloudy, overcast summer. I felt the leaves would have time to mature because the sun would be out in the autumn, and the trees would not die.

The dreamer was in his fifties at the time of the dream, and had distinct feelings of something missing from his life. He felt very clearly that the late autumn expressed how he felt, that the best of his life, his fruition had not yet occurred. This was because ‘it had been a cloudy, overcast summer.’ By this he meant his life had so many difficulties, he had not had a chance to ‘flower’. But the dream promised there was still time. In fact ‘he actualized’ so much from there on.

And here is another dream example showing the same thing.

I am in a bicycle race with many other people. I came to a very long hill. It is difficult and I have to push my bicycle. It takes me until midday. When at the top I meet a lot of family. Then I cycle on, realizing that because the road is flat, I can go much further before nightfall than I covered in the morning.

The man was in his late forties at the time of the dream. It shows him feeling as if the first half of his life has been a long difficult climb. His assessment or intuition of the second half of his life is that it will achieve much more, or cover more ground and he will have more human and warm relationships, represented by his family. The bicycle represents his personal efforts to deal with life and his place in the human race; and as it suggests, he can go much further before nightfall – death – than he achieved in the morning of his life.

49-56 years

In this, and the next cycle from forty-nine to fifty-six, and the periods that follow, the physical changes bring about a mental or spiritual climax. The decline of physical prowess and vitality, forces the person to direct their attention inwards more frequently. Any problems of our personality, such as maladjustment and our repressions, will undoubtedly become more urgent in these years. This reacts upon one’s marriage and professional life alike. The problem is that we have to learn to live with ourselves in a new way. We slowly have to adapt to our new-old body, and habits of long-standing do not die easily.

This is when we take an inventory of our life. It’s a time of spiritual questioning and review of our life purpose. If we haven’t successfully understood who we are by this stage and achieved our goals, then depression, moodiness and turmoil will plague both our waking life and our dreams.
56-63 years

This period is often a time of inner tranquility and acceptance. At peace with oneself and more accepting of where we are and what we have achieved marks this period. But many things that were lying unlived within you might arise at this time, either as a form of unrest, or as directly living out those things that duty or work – or even self restraints – kept you from doing or being.

Usually your life situation begins to change in this stage. There is the start of a great shift and adjustment, both in terms of external activities, but also in how you deal with and feel about relationships. Part of the difficulty is that you have lived a long life as a younger person, and the old ways of dealing with things is often difficult to let go of as things change. The opportunity to experiment more fully in life helps you to reassess yourself and what new way of relating and being suits you or is satisfying.

The psychiatrist Carl Jung and others such as Nietzsche developed a whole theory about this period of life that he called Individuation. Perhaps the influence of this began in the last periods during the forties, but becomes more marked now. As an individual we may come to recognize that our make-up is formed out of the collective experience of our family and the culture we have been exposed to. The question, “Who am I,” leads us to look more fully into what makes us who we are. This awareness and the insight gained from it transforms us. The change is that of becoming more fully independent of the forces that formed us. This means we create something new of who we are, and perhaps leave something of this new self in the world by what we do, create or live. Not every one undertakes this diving into the depths of self to discover ones core being.

To quote from the website Soul-Guidance, “Individuation means that one becomes a person, an individual, a totally integrated personality. It is a process of self realization during which one integrates those contents of the psyche that have the ability to become conscious. It is a search for totality. It is an experience that could be formulated as the discovery of the divine in yourself, or the discovery of the totality of your Self. This does not always happen without pain, but it is necessary to accept many things that normally we would shy away from. Once a person has accepted the contents of his unconsciousness and has reached the goal of the individuation process, he is conscious of his relationships with everything that lives, with the entire cosmos.”
63-70 years

Now we have deeper acceptance and understanding of the people in our life. We appreciate the differences between us and our friends and look to the good rather than the bad in people. This is a period where our accumulated experience seeks new creative outlets.

A particularly noticeable process that occurs here is a conscious or unconscious sifting of life experience and moving toward what is the essence and best of what one has been and learned from the years and experiences. Sometimes, if you can actually be aware of and work with this process, it leads to a sense of being lost or uncertain. By this is meant that for most of us external needs have dictated the direction of much that we have done or was needed of us. Now a great deal of this external pressure is removed. With its loss you realize that a great many choices or directions are open to you. It is like standing at cross roads with many directions. Which one do you want to take? Often it needs you to stand and observe before any direction from your own core wishes emerges. If during your life you have never worked at dealing with the difficulties and weaknesses or pains innate in you, then this period can lead to great confusion and the meeting of many shadows that you may not yet have developed the skills to deal with previously.

This is also a time in life when natural inner processes can lead you to a greater awareness of what lies beyond death. Things fall away naturally if you let them. A greater detachment from things of the world arises and this in itself is a foretaste of death in which you can let go of all that you have held on to.

70-77 years

Of course there are no fixed boundaries and so one may achieve this level of maturity at another period. But if the issues met in the previous cycle have been dealt with, then there is a new awareness of the subtle sides of life, and a changed relationship with those you love or come in contact with. There is a greater unconditional love and acceptance. By this is meant that awareness of the depths and subtleties of ones own self are known more fully. If you are a person who has an active inner life, it can happen that the huge harvest of gathered life experience that was sifted and synthesised into clearer and more streamlined, or simpler concepts and meanings, is now expressed in your life and dealings with others. You may not be as powerful and active in the outer world, but you are gaining strength and effectiveness on people’s inner life if you are still healthy.

But such changes, as always, depend upon how well you have dealt with the problems, trauma as ability to grow during your life. If these are met, then this letter is an excellent example. See – Inner World

77-84 years onwards

During the three preceding periods a new self was developed. This emerged out of a summary and synthesis or all that you had lived. Perhaps, if you gave attention to your inner life, doorways of perception were opened through which you saw how your present life is a continuum of the long past, of ancestors and other influences. From this new self and widened perceptions you are acting and living in the world in a different way. The essence of the purpose, love and ideas you lived by is given new expression.

As we have seen, the various physical changes have interacted with the spark of awareness lit at birth, causing changes in consciousness and attitude. Might we not speculate then, by saying that the biggest physical change of all-death – may be but a pre-requisite for yet another cycle of life; an initiation into an entirely new type of awareness? In fact it can happen that from the last cycle onwards, if you dare to experience your inner life reasonably fully, you will already have experienced what naked awareness is like, or have penetrated what is called death in some way.

A pebble in the sea of sandA Tibetan Buddhist Lama that I know has such a head. Around his head and shoulders, his halo appears like a considerable indigo coloured oval, reminiscent of the halos that are portrayed in countless paintings of Jesus, the Saints, and Apostles. When I first saw it, it was an awesome gift to perceive an atmosphere in that highly developed state. It was something I had never seen this before. Immediately, my new goal became to meditate regularly and develop my own mind to the point where my ideas and emotions are entirely under control.

Continue this for a little while and once you feel your body relaxing slowly, discontinue this mode of breathing deeply and gently shut your eyes. While you relax, feel the natural vibration of the word “Ommm” as it continues to reverberate through your being.

To reach a state, where you meditate very deeply, you have to learn two techniques, which will be explained here below. The first method is “Meditation using Mantras” and the second is the art of meditating with binaural beats.

It’s not a cat nap and it’s not intended to be properly used with any spa treatment. You simply need to use benefit of meditation techniques to clear the mind of regular garble and let the body to rejuvenate itself naturally.

Yoga helps to bring down tension and improve relaxation. And music has got the universal appeal to soothe the inner self of anyone and everyone. Music produces a harmony in the mind which likewise leads to increased power of concentration. Nowadays, slowly, individuals are able to understand this aspect or advantage of Yoga practicing for which many spiritual music companies offer particular Yoga DVDs and CDs containing hymns and chants which soothe the mind by making a calm atmosphere around. These enchanting hymns and mantras of Yoga music enter the deepest sense of human thoughts and blend with his or her first self.

Life flow meditation assists you achieving a deep state in your meditation. In that state, your brain generates a great deal of hormones and other substances related to happy and relaxing emotions. This profound condition is reached easier and faster with this technique than with any other meditation technique. The reason it is such a strong technique is that it really combines many varied brainwaves which all operate for a definite part of the brain, but that, when put together, access the entire brain.

Isochronic tones on the other hand, comprise just one tone which has an hypnotic “follow on” effect upon the brainwave frequencies as they harmonise with the pulsation. The Isochronic tones are generally set in a certain frequency to truly have a certain effect upon the mind. The “follow on” effect creates a relaxed alpha brainwave state which calms the endless chatter of the aware. With both of these meditation techniques, the frequency used can be targeted to effect a specific part of the mind to achieve desired, focused results.

By doing this, ideas will run their course like a spinning wheel that loses its momentum and might even come to a halt. Don’t make it a target for thoughts to come to a halt, rather, maintain your focus on allowing the thoughts to come and go without ever catching hold of these. This may take you to no thoughts.

Flickr-Consciousness2-h.koppdelaney-300x300Many of us seem to think that being spiritual means we have to be religious. Just because you aren’t directly affiliated with a specific religion doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive to be more spiritual. The whole concept of spiritual awareness isn’t all about connecting with a higher divine power, but also connecting with nature and yourself. Once you have established this connection, you will see life from a whole different perspective. People with a highly developed sense of spiritual awareness are often less prone to depression, addiction, manipulation, and control. In addition, they generally understand what it means to be truly happy.

Here are five techniques that can help you increase your spiritual awareness:

Technique #1: Learn to Communicate With Your Soul

Your soul is an energy entity that holds part of your awareness and memories. Its energy is what animates your body. In other words, your physical body acts like a vehicle to house your soul, so that it can experience what it means to live in the material realm. For these reasons, your soul is your true identity. Your body isn’t your true identity, because it’s made of matter, which is made of atoms that are mostly empty space. The space that isn’t empty in atoms isn’t solid, but is actually made of energy. So, what does this mean? It means that matter and your body are more like illusions or projections. The only thing that is truly real is energy which is what your soul is made of.

To communicate to your soul, you need to first believe that you have one. Next, learn how to calm your mind so that you can hear the subtle voice and feeling inside you. A great way to calm your mind is to do breathing exercises. Meditation is also another great technique to strengthen your ability to communicate to your soul.

Technique #2: Get Plenty of Sleep

Create a schedule that makes it possible for you to get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep every night. Once you have created this schedule, try to stick to it. Not only will you find that getting lots of sleep every single night allows your body to recover from fatigue, but you are also making it easier for you to focus your thoughts. Staying in control of your thoughts is important for increasing your spiritual awareness, because thought is the energy entity that constructs your reality.

Technique #3:  Spend Time With Nature

The secrets of life are embedded in nature. If you want to increase your spiritual awareness so that you can understand what life is, you need to study nature and learn how to live in harmony with it. As your connection to nature strengthens, your spiritual awareness will also increase. The reason for this is because when you become more aware of your natural environment, you start to see why things occur the way they do. This awareness can help you understand who you are and why you are here.

Technique #4: Stay Positive and Laugh Often

Laughter is an important part of a healthy mind and body. When you laugh, you secrete a chemical that automatically boosts your mood and improves your physical health. After a good laugh, you will often find that your problems no longer seem so huge, causing you to have a positive attitude. The great thing about being a person who laughs a lot is that laughter is contagious. When you laugh, people around you will generally feel better, and pretty soon everyone will be happier and more spiritually connected.

Technique #5: Activate Your Pineal Gland

The pineal gland is a powerful and mysterious small gland located in the center of your brain. This small gland is also referred to as the third, inner or mind’s eye. The pineal gland is believed to have mystical properties. Many spiritual teachers believe it has the ability to see the spiritual realm and is the “seat of the soul.” The pineal gland is the section in the head that anchors the soul to the rest of the body.

When the pineal gland is working properly, it becomes easier to communicate to your soul and spiritual realms. Have you ever had an experience when you are in the process of waking up and you saw your room with a 360-degree view, even when you slightly opened your eyes? This 360-degree view is the result of your pineal gland being activated.

Most adults’ pineal gland is somewhat inactive due to the lack of use and the ingestion of harmful chemicals that can calcify it. One of the most harmful synthetic chemicals to the pineal gland is sodium fluoride. This form of fluoride is a wast byproduct of the fertilizer industry. The natural version of fluoride is known as calcium fluoride, which is often found in ground water and soil in tiny amounts.

Sodium fluoride is common in conventional toothpaste. It is unhealthy for the pineal gland because when it is exposed to sodium fluoride for long periods of time, it can calcify the pineal gland. For more techniques on how to activate your pineal gland, read this article titled Calcified Pineal Gland: How to Decalcify It.

questttt-300What if everything you’ve been taught about the origins of civilization is wrong? Be it that certain pieces of our history have been intentionally hidden, or that we have yet to discover and realize the true story of our past, new archaeological and geological discoveries are revealing that sophisticated civilizations have likely existed in prehistoric times.

Until recently, the archaeological community has spread the view that the beginnings of human civilization started after the last Ice Age, which ended around 9,600 BC. All human ancestors prior to this time were recognized as primitive, uncivilized hunter-gatherers who were incapable of communal organization and architectural design. It was only after the Ice Age, when huge 2-mile deep ice caps that covered much of Europe and North America melted, that our human ancestors started to develop and perfect agriculture, forming more-complex economic and social structures around 4000 BC. Archaeologists believed that first cities started around 3500 BC in Mesopotamia and, shortly after, in Egypt. On the European continent, the oldest megalithic sites are dated around 3,000 BC, and the popular Stonehenge is dated between 2,400 BC and 1,800 BC.

This is the established chronology being taught in schools and believed by modern society. Prehistoric societies such as Atlantis have been declared myth.

Until now. New research now reveals that civilized humans were settled on Earth during the prehistoric era.

“Everything we’ve been taught about the origins of civilization may be wrong. Old stories about Atlantis and other great lost civilizations of prehistory, long dismissed as myths by archaeologists, look set to be proved true.” ~ Danny Natawidjaja, PhD, senior geologist with the Research Centre for Geotechnology at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Source)

Since 2011, Dr. Natawidjaja and his team have worked on a geological survey site in Indonesia about 100 miles from the city of Bandung. The significance of the site was first recognized in 1914 when megalithic structures made from blocks of columnar basalt were found around a summit of a large hill. When the hill’s summit was cleared of trees, it was realized that the blocks formed five terraces. These were believed to be used for meditation and retreat. The site was deemed sacred by locals and dubbed Gunung Padang, meaning “Mountain of Light” or “Mountain of Enlightenment”. The age of the terrace structures was estimated around 1,500 BC to 2,500 BC.

What Natawidjaja discovered at Gunung Padang was astounding. The hill was actually not a natural hill but a 300-ft high step-pyramid. And what’s even more controversial is that the structure was much older than anyone imagined. Natawidjaja radiocarbon dated the terrace structures at around 500 to 1,500 BC, similar to previous estimates. He also used tubular drills to bring up cores of earth and stone from various depths underneath the surface megaliths. As the drills dug deeper, Natawidjaja continued to discover that the columnar basalt structures extended far beneath the surface and yielded much older dates. At depths of 90 feet and more, the material was found to be 20,000 BC to 22,000 BC years old. Using radiocarbon dating, Natawidjaja and his team proved that man-made megalithic structures and hence a prehistoric human civilization existed well into the Ice Age.

“At 7,000 or more years older than Stonehenge the megaliths of Gobekli Tepe, like the deeply buried megaliths of Gunung Padang mean that the timeline of history taught in our schools and universities for the best part of the last hundred years can no longer stand. It is beginning to look as though civilization, as I argued in my controversial 1995 bestseller Fingerprints of the Gods, is indeed much older and much more mysterious than we thought.” ~ Graham Hancock (Source) “Gunung Padang is not a natural hill but a man-made pyramid and the origins of construction here go back long before the end of the last Ice Age. Since the work is massive even at the deepest levels, and bears witness to the kinds of sophisticated construction skills that were deployed to build the pyramids of Egypt or the largest megalithic sites of Europe, I can only conclude that we’re looking at the work of a lost civilization and a fairly advanced one. ” ~ Dr. Danny Natawidjaja (Source)

The Greek philosopher Plato was also a believer that high civilization existed well into the last Ice Age. His recorded dialogs with other scholars of his time date Atlantis and its submergence by floods and earthquakes at around 9,000 BC, which is, coincidentally, in agreement with modern scientific knowledge about the rapidly rising sea levels towards the end of the Ice Age at 9,600 BC.

The question now arises: What happened to prehistoric civilizations? Why did they not survive the “Younger Dryas” period, which dates from 10,900 BC to 9,600BC? It is known that the Younger Dryas was a truly cataclysmic period on Earth, with immense climate instability and terrifying global conditions. Scientists have long debated the mystery behind this and the reasons for the massive extinction of North American megafauna such as short-faced bears and saber-toothed cats dated around 11,000 BC. Was the same mystery responsible for a massive human population decline and disappearance of advanced prehistoric societies?

New research conducted by geologists around the world, including James Kennett, professor emeritus in the Department of Earth Science at the University of California Santa Barbara, has linked the Younger Dryas period to a cosmic-impact event, possibly a comet collision with Earth. The international research team from 21 universities and 6 countries has identified a distribution of nanodiamonds of extraterrestrial nature at 32 sites in 11 countries, spanning an area of 50 million square kilometers across the Northern Hemisphere. Kennett comments:

“We conclusively have identified a thin layer over three continents, particularly in North America and Western Europe, that contain a rich assemblage of nanodiamonds, the production of which can be explained only by cosmic impact. We have also found YDB glassy and metallic materials formed at temperatures in excess of 2200 degrees Celsius, which could not have resulted from wildfires, volcanism or meteoritic flux, but only from cosmic impact.” (Source)

It’s known that during the Younger Dryas, the Earth experienced great global instability, with a sharp decline in temperatures even colder than during the peak of the Ice Age. A return to a warmer climate around 9,600 BC caused a sudden melting of the remaining ice caps, resulting in a quick rising of the ocean levels.

Kennett and his colleagues believe that the beginning of the Younger Dryas and the sharp temperature decline were caused by a cosmic event, similar to the event responsible for the mass extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. The scientists have called the moment in time illustrated by the nanodiamond datum as an isochron. Was this isochron responsible for creating the mystery of lost civilizations? Kennett believes so:

“It’s not surprising that many large animal species, such as the mammoths, went extinct during this precise time and of course it had huge effects on our ancestors, not just those ‘primitive’ hunter gatherers the archaeologists speak of but also, I believe, a high civilization that was wiped from the historical record by the upheavals of the Younger Dryas.” (Source)

imageeeeA group of international neuroscientists and robotics engineers have discovered for the first time that human brains can indeed ‘talk’ directly to one another, even from thousands of miles away.

A brain-to-brain communication study conducted in coordination with Harvard Medical School has proven that extrasensory mind-to mind interaction can happen over great distances by leveraging different pathways in the mind.

The study, coauthored by Alvaro Pascual-Leone, Director of the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, found that information can be successfully transmitted between two intact human brains from distances over 5000 miles apart.

The researchers were curious if one could communicate directly with another person, and tested their hypothesis by reading the brain activity from one person injecting brain activity into the second individual. You could call it a neuro-physical version of ‘instant messaging.’

“In the neuroscientific equivalent of instant messaging, Pascual-Leone, together with Giulio Ruffini and Carles Grau leading a team of researchers from Starlab Barcelona, Spain, and Michel Berg, leading a team from Axilum Robotics, Strasbourg, France, successfully transmitted the words “hola” and “ciao” in a computer-mediated brain-to-brain transmission from a location in India to a location in France using internet-linked electroencephalogram (EEG) and robot-assisted and image-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) technologies.”

Using electrodes attached to one person’s scalp to record their brain currents (electrical signaling) during a thought-action, the computer could interpret that signal and translate it to a control output like a robot or a motorized wheelchair.

The study required a second human brain on the receiving end. Participants who successfully transmitted the two words were between the ages of 28 and 50, and four participated in the study. One subject was responsible for the brain-computer interface (BCI) branch and was the sender of the words chosen for the study, and the other three were assigned the task of receiving the message with the computer-brain interface observing their brain-wave patterns.

Although EEG patterns had to be translated from binary code, the greetings ‘hola’ and ‘ciao’ were translated successfully and emailed as confirmation back to the sender in India from France. When the messages were sent, the subjects experienced brain stimulation as phosphenes, which are flashes of light, which occur in peripheral vision as a sort of morse code – as a sequence.

This corroborates findings that people know when a loved one has died even when they are thousands of miles away, and other strange phenomenon that seem to exist out of the time/space barriers we have accepted as limitations for person-to-person communication.

Perhaps we can ditch our cell phones soon, once we learn how to ‘talk’ straight to our intended recipients using just our minds.

Meditating Statue Full MoonThere are so many mental and physical benefits that meditation brings into your life. Though meditation will take a little practice, it is not as complicated as you would think! Here are some easy pointers on getting started:

1. Sit in a comfortable position. Find someplace quiet and devoid of distractions. Turn off your cell phone, laptop, etc. Wear loose clothing. You can even put your feet up. Meditation doesn’t require sitting in the lotus position or any form of uncomfortable, forced posture.

2. Clear your mind. Easier said than done, right? I like to think of the light filtering in from a distant star. I imagine that love and light are enveloping me, draining all the stress and negative energy I have absorbed from my busy, stressful day. Yes, meditation is a process, but I promise you can do it. In just a few tries you’ll begin to feel a calm coming over you.

3. I suggest starting with sessions that last about 10-15 minutes. After you get the hang of it you can extend these periods if you like and have the time. Even brief periods of meditation are very beneficial.

4. Don’t over think it. Breathe deeply. Relax.

When you emerge from your meditation, however brief, you’ll notice emotional tranquility. The stressful day is erased. You feel refreshed and energized. You’ll have a more positive attitude about your life and a feeling of well-being. You may even be so clear minded that you’ve found the solution to a dilemma that’s been bothering you. You’ll see your life in a new light and start to have a different perspective on stressful situations in your life. You finally feel like you’re in control of the external pressures life dishes out.

These benefits have been known for years—now there’s a physiologic explanation. Knowledge scientists have gathered from brain scans and the measure of brain wave activity have given new info on the alpha state our brain experiences while meditating. Through this relaxation process, both mentally and physically, there are changes in our brain wave patterns. Our brains start to release chemicals known as endorphins. Endorphins are Mother Nature’s opiates; they give you a natural high and an amazing sense of well-being.

Meditation is the easiest way to achieve this feeling. And, no surprise, these good feelings continue for some time after the meditation session is over.

There are also real physical benefits from the practice of meditation. Endorphins boost your immune system. They protect you from infections and maintain good health. Just a few minutes a day can do all this.

Being in a Alpha brainwave state while you meditate will give you a feeling of calm, keep your mind sharp, and help you maintain composure in stressful situations. Give meditation a try and feel in control again.

Vipassana Meditation statueThis is just an opening you can find more on walking meditation from various sources. The important thing is the fact that you get started and attempt to maintain a daily practice. Good Luck to you personally.

Our verdict – Ramamkrishna Mission Ashram seems to be a perfect spot to gain mental relaxation and spiritual bliss. In spite of being found close to Vizags busy RK Beach, there’s a sense of serenity at the place. Visitors to the mission are anticipated to preserve this silence by keeping their cell phones switched off or in quiet mode.

No, it is not a matter of telepathy where thoughts of a man is controlled by Mindvalley meditation and certain mysterious actions. The thought leader merely affects the followers by the dint of their prowess in a certain field. If it’s necessary to adopt a particular way of living to seek calm and enjoyment in your life certainly you would look into a spiritual leader – the person who is actually a great source of inspiration for you to follow a peaceful way of living.

And of course it is a fact that if we all eat less and exercise more, we’ll shed weight. But, the essential thing to keep in mind is that without the right mental conditioning, our attempts to shed weight will like be doomed to failure.

At Length, meditation together with visualization will empower your subconscious mind to guide you inexorably to the accomplishment of your own own weight loss goals. Visualization will be recognized as a critical part of target achievement and is used by many athletes like Andy Murray and Michael Phelps. You should use creative visualization in a weight reduction program by, for example, visualizing yourself turning down a cream cake and eating an apple instead. And then imagine how good you’ll look after slimming down a size or two.

Thought leadership definition helps us understand who is just a thought leader, where his or her part is ideal and the reason why this manner of leading people is more preferable in a given position? So lets have a look over every one of the problems related to it.

With the application of designed sound combinations, selected binaural beats might be created inside our brains, setting us in a particular mental state. Besides lowering ar raising brain wave frequency to relax or excite a listener, there are other more contentious, alleged uses for binaural beats. For example, it has been postulated that by simply using specific frequencies, someone can stimulate certain glands to produce desired hormones. To take one example,, experiments have showed that endorphins, generally created in the “runner’s high” state of mind, might be generated by using specific mixtures of binaural beats.

personal-development1Be vigilant about keeping your attention away from any negative thoughts or emotions. Establish Your Self Using Law of Attraction Affirmations. Basically, affirmations are where you either visualize, vocalize or write out goals in a positive manner. All activity is carried out by the subconscious mind which is the creative faculty. Unfortunately (and the good news is in some circumstances), your unconscious mind is not able to approach negatives, takes every little thing critically, has no sense of irony, humor or sarcasm. Easy Money Affirmations: I always have more than enough money in my bank account. Keep in mind, while the thought of having to release a few relationships as you go on your healing journey may seem daunting, please understand that this is a natural process. First, let’s look at the use of affirmations as a method of attracting positive experiences into our lives. Simply put, you will attract that to which you give your attention and energy.

At the core of human existence lies experience. Now, if you muddle up the reception by constantly ‘changing the channel’ with worry and doubt, that’s going to create ‘static’ or ‘resistance’ to the reality of your desire. When thinking of exercise, does it seem boring or a chore to do? Release any old beliefs that no longer serve you – belief in lack and limitations, thoughts of unworthiness, thoughts of revenge and retribution. Each of us is like a magnet; we are either giving off positive or negative energy/attraction. Consider this; our habitual negative thoughts are what cause most of our unhappiness. A noble endeavor for sure. If you find yourself in a negative emotion, find ways to quickly turn those moods around. You must take care to go to the right places, too.

This will power is achieved through self discipline and by nurturing sustainable actions. They are used to saying things like “I can’t,” “It’s impossible,” or “It can’t be done, no way!” They should start by erasing these phrases from their vocabulary, and replacing them with something like “Let’s see what we can do,” or “Sure, let me give it a try!” Making daily affirmations are another key to law of attraction. First, just think of the car. A lot of people have different answers, but basically for the sake of time, Religion is a connection between Man and God! And I am truly finding Heaven here on earth! Remember, the first place to start is within yourself. You have to work for the money you want.

The best way to do this, but is also an uncommon way, is to use silent subliminal affirmations that directly target removing many of the negative beliefs people today have around receiving money. When her lists were finished, she was able to see on paper the fact that she had a lot of reasons to stay single. If you make it a goal to like everyone, you would even like the person that is causing you so much grief. The funny thing about this is these newcomers usually have music 2nd great need when it comes to “needing money” so their “energetic signature” is need, yet they usually place great expectations on the Law of Attraction to “deliver magical results.” When the magical results don’t occur after spending a Law of attraction money short time to learn how to manifest money the traditional “intellectual” way by doing money affirmations or repeating money mantras or perhaps repeating one specific wealth affirmation, then most people get disillusioned and blame the Law of Attraction for not working. His name is Hakim!!” I nearly fell over with shock as I got all goosebumpy. These visualization tools and attraction movies are based around the universal law of attraction. Fast Law Of Attraction Methods To Boost Self Esteem How you see yourself upon the inside, ie yourself image, will affect your self-esteem of the degree that this self-image differs from your ideals. Affirmations are assertive statements to the subconscious mind to influence speech, behavior, attitude, actions and reactions. Releasing the grip of the past on your thoughts will create a space for new growth, new prosperity, to enter your life.

And accomplish it all with a lot less effort. Find the words that will work to inspire and encourage you when you hear the affirmation. See it, feel it, and know that it is now a part of you. Take your energetic pulse during the day. Over time, and with conscious effort, you will not be able to entertain negative thoughts in your mind even if you want to. Comedian Jim Carrey has long told the story of his rise to fame. It is where she applied her metaphysical skills. So what are attraction movies and visualization tools and what is it that they actually do?

Send a definitive signal to the Universe and return to your day-to-day life.

buddhist-meditationAnd once you are in your meditation posture, you just begin to breathe – breathing in and breathing out. You do not have to breathe in a certain way – just be aware that you are breathing. Be aware of breathing in and be aware of breathing out.

Meditation is a way of focusing your attention so that you develop the skill of choosing where you place your attention, or awareness. It is simply a way of focusing.

If you’re just getting started, you may find learning How to meditate easier by listening to a guided meditation or visualization CD. The comforting background music and soothing voice of the narrator helps you reach that deep meditative Brainwave technology – visit this link, state where the true magic happens.

The more you relax, the more you become stress-free. Needless to say, when you are stress-free, you can become eczema-free too! The great thing about yoga is it will not only teach you to eliminate stress but it will also help shape you up. So many people can attest to how effective this method is when it comes to losing weight and making the body sexier.

The Om symbol often appears in Sanskrit tattoo designs. This is not surprising – it is the primary chant in many types of meditation which originate in the East. The sound Om is said to be one of the fundamental sounds which created the Universe. It both represents the three states of human consciousness (waking, dream and deep sleep) as well as the three main Hindu gods (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva).

If you have decided you’d like to use an incantation to help you it is time to pick one out. Using isochronic tone audios and incantation is fancy lingo for repeating a word or phrase while meditating. Saying your goal out loud can sometimes help you stay focused on what you are trying to do. For example, an incantation for weight loss might be “I am in control.” One for calming might be as simple as the well known “Ommm”. There is no wrong way to pick an incantation, but simple phrases or sounds work best. If you feel funny talking to yourself simply say the incantation in your head.

So what can you do about it? The answer is: practice mindfulness. Yes, this simple skill will greatly help you not just in managing stress but in changing your overall approach to life as well.

Neuroscience suggests being an observer of your emotions helps regulate their intensity. A region of your brain called the amygdala is activated during times of perceived threat. It serves as an alarm, activating biological responses to protect you from danger. This happens whether the “danger” is real or not, including anxiety.

Qi Gong is a gentle, easy to learn, movement practice which is suitable for virtually everyone and increases your body’s stores of qi (chi) energy. Qi is the healing force which is naturally present in your body. All forms of stress deplete qi quickly, and lead to disease. Performing qi gong can heal the body because the movements bring more qi into the body.

Music-MeditationI learned how to meditate as a way to help manage my epilepsy. A daily routine of meditation helped me reduce the number of seizures I had and, thus, increased my quality of life. The fact that meditation ended up providing me with other benefits over the years came as an unexpected bonus. A very welcome unexpected bonus.

But how do you get your confidence back? Usually either with someone believing in you and reminding you of your talents or by taking a good look at yourself and remembering what you are good at. Your strengths if you like.

Normally we can find long, long lists indicating the benefits of meditation and on those very true lists, we will also find joyous living as one of the entries. Although joyous living will certainly materialize as a result of your meditation practice, this is not the joy that I am referring to here. Here I am referring to the joy one gets simply from participating in meditation. Simply from watching the thinking mind from moment to moment as best as you can.

Exercise My Brain: exercising your brain is as important (if not more!) than exercising your muscles. In the past year I taken to Sudoku and Kakuro as ways to stimulate my brain and have fun. Other suggestions are crosswords, quizzes, and brain teasers.

alpha Brain Waves The best Meditation Music tracks also need to have two versions. The first version includes voice instructions over the music for learning proper technique. The guided version should be used by the advanced student once per week to make sure their form stays sharp. The second version has no instructions and is for daily use. The unguided version is where really deep states of mind are reached.

Learn How to meditate it can be a good way to get in touch with feelings and a way to release stress in the body and mind. You can start now even by closing your eyes and deeply breathing for 5 -10 minutes each day and watching your thoughts and allowing them to drift off.

Meditation is a popular form of stress relief. Many people use various forms of meditation to learn how to deal with stress in their personal lives. It helps you learn how to control your mind so you do not dwell on the negative. It can also help you take control of your thoughts and in some cases even help solve problems or turn negatives into positives.

Up until the age of about six or seven you are trying to figure that out – the question of what and who exactly you are. Certain messages will get absorbed and become part of the fabric of your being as surely as an ink stain will become a part of a linen tablecloth forever more.

Focus on today and the positives in your life. Learn techniques to teach you how to deal with stress effectively. Practice these techniques every day. If you need to see a therapist, or if you think you do, then do so. Learn to take control of your life so you can enjoy your life the way you deserve to.

Meditation-peace-sunsetWay one: Drink more water. Water helps maintain homeostasis. It keeps everything nice and balanced, the way it needs to be. The brain works more efficiently when there’s more water in the body. Water also spikes metabolism, so water is a two-fer, in that it helps both the body and the mind feel better. When the body feels better, it usually follows that you feel better emotionally.

As my grandma used to say, success is in organization. Make a schedule and separate a time for your meditation. Meditation is great when you wake up, before your last meal and before you go how to meditate properly sleep. Stop watching TV in your spare time and make some room for meditation.

It was when I came out of this meditation that things got quite amazing. And this spiritual awakening wasn’t a feeling of attaining something, but rather a feeling that something was gone. That personal sense of “me” with all of its problems and conflicts was not there. I was still there, still aware of the body, still functioning through the senses, but that stress that I recognized as myself was gone.

This happened automatically. And automatically I fell into silence, a place of just blackness. And for about half an hour there was just this blackness. It was nothing profound, no spiritual awakening, just almost like being in deep sleep yet fully conscious.

All four of these things distract us from what really is happening in the present moment. When you learn meditation for sleep, you are doing nothing more than constantly pulling your attention away from these four things and placing it back in the present moment.

When you are ready to start meditating your stress away you can begin. Get in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Start taking deep cleansing breaths. Breathe through your nose and out through your mouth. Take long deep breaths and release them slowly.

Most people experience significant stress in their lives and this can make your acne worse. Make sure that you do what you can to reduce stress in your life. Try to work at a job you like because this can make a big difference at reducing stress in your life. This can be tough to do but find out what you like and see if you can find a way to get paid to do things you like. Also consider learning how to do meditation or yoga as they are also very effective at reducing stress.

A word of caution: do not waste your time visualizing or wishing things that may invade the sphere of other people, since this will take you out of the positive energy creative field, wasting your meditation energy and making it work in reverse, against you. Your desires must be honest and aligned with the highest good of all, pursuant to the law of unity.

While you listen, use a natural (not forced) diaphragmatic breathing to meditate with music. This is the so called “belly breathing”. On inhaling through your nostrils, direct your breath into your abdomen and feel it rise. On exhaling through your nostrils, feel your abdomen fall. If you want to center even further, lightly press your tongue against the roof of your mouth while you inhale deeply (but slowly) through your nostrils and exhale not through your nostrils but through your slightly parted lips.

Easy to learn – meditation is also easy to learn. The theories are all basic and what you just need is to gain enough experience to go into a meditative state easily. All you need is a little practice.

Meditating-highResearchers from a number of the country’s most esteemed medical centers have found within their studies that meditation can influence the depth of the cortical tissue within the brain. This kind of change is critical in how the tissue is then able to process sensory, cognitive, and emotional responses.

So, what’s the main goal of meditation in Zen Buddhism? It should come as no surprise that the purpose of meditation would be to realize enlightenment. In Fact, the prime goal of meditating is to remove most of the usual hurdles to attaining enlightenment. This really is accomplished through reflecting on life, the universe, and all things in between. Through closing one’s eyes, relaxing, and looking inward, it becomes possible to see one’s experiences in a clearer perspective. Such a process allows for a greater understanding of oneself and one’s spot in the world. In addition, it aids in reducing the psychic sound and internal conversation which could clutter how we perceive things and how we act.

In the spiritual sense, meditation practitioners’ targets have a tendency to be changed to spiritual and personal growth. In the studies on cancer and AIDS patients, it was proven that those who practiced meditation had been in sync together with the spiritual dimension in life. Individuals who died practicing meditation had reached the state of self-acceptance and self awareness. Even though they have not beat death, they had attained self-contentment.

Once comfortable, the subject initiates the mp3 meditation and immerses themselves in the sound of the headphones. With respect to the frequency chosen and also the accompaniment of the related pink sounds, which include music, natural sounds along with a modified white hiss like a tv makes when the station it’s tuned to stops transmitting, variable and predictable effects are caused within the conscious by the binaural beat. These include, but aren’t restricted to: relaxation, enhanced creativity, intuition, om harmonics, enriched learning, improved sleep patterns, wellness and also the private exploration of altered states of consciousness.

Are you still coming from a place of panic? What are your goals with respect to your own spiritual development? Perhaps they now contain mastering meditation? Mine do!

You may plan your sub conscious with loving thoughts of being prepared for love. After several slow, deep breaths, start repeating, “I am love. I am ready for love.” As you exhale repeat, “I am love. I am ready for lasting love.” Use any affirming words that resonate with you. pineal -brainWhy is it so taboo to say that word “psychic.” The truth is everyone is Psychic to some degree. We were all born with this gift called intuition. Some people completely turn it off or some choose to listen to it more than others.

The gift of intuition is an innate ability that was given to us from the Divine to use as a compass and guide us here on Earth, with life. During pre-historic times “we as humans” used this gift of intuition to sense danger or predators, using it for basic needs of survival.

Now with more modern times, we use it in many different ways that we may not be aware of. We use the gift of intuition as Mothers’ Listening to our inner “mother’s intuition,” sensing whether our child is in danger, needs help, has concerns, etc. We use it as Business Executives and Fashion Designers, tapping into the right-side of the brain to think of innovative, creative solutions—listening to one’s intuition to think of new ideas or make a decision by what feels right. Even Scientists have used the gift of intuition to help them with major breakthroughs and discoveries. For example, Albert Einstein used to take time to receive intuitive messages through his dreams. He would go to sleep for inner guidance and suggestions for his work, seeking guidance from the Divine through the spirit world. And then, we have Intuitive Counselors who take it a step further, using intuition to help others through conducting many different styles of readings. These are just a few examples, but we use the gift of intuition every day, whether for our personal lives or professional.

To help you determine, if you’re receiving intuitive messages, here are a few ways we receive intuition:

Four main Clairsense natural abilities:

-Clairknowing (a.k.a. claircognant): With this sense, you may know something before it happens, in which you may often use the phrase “I knew that was going to happen. I just knew it.” You may have taken time to validate that inner-knowing, or rather brushed it off, only later to found out your intuition was right.

-Clairsentient: With this sense, you may feel messages, such as getting a strong emotion. For example, you may use the phrase “this doesn’t feel right, or I feel I should.” This sense may cause you to feel anxiety, have sensitivity or nerves more than others, before making a major decision, or when around a lot of people (you’re sensing others emotions, not yours). Does it feel right to you? Your body sends you messages through your feelings.

-Clairvoyance: With this sense, you may see things with your physical eye or in your mind’s eye, also known as daydreaming. With your physical eye, you may see reoccurring numbers throughout your day on license plates, billboards, newspapers, etc. You may see the same colors or images come-up as coincidence. You may also see images while meditating, daydreaming, or sleep-state; whereas the very advanced clairvoyants, will see images in physical form such as angel orbs, spirits, and auras. The phrase “I see” is used often as a form of expression.

-Clairaudience: With this sense, you may hear messages either hear messages from the lyrics in a song, hear a message while overhearing a conversation, or even actually hear a spirit guide or loved one speak to you. You may even hear sounds of things moving or someone being there, but then go to look and see nothing there. The phrase used often for this sense is “I hear.”

And if you feel like you are not receiving or are blocked, then take time to clear your intuitive channel—Prayer and Meditation work Best. When you have peace in your heart it’s easier to be receptive to hearing guidance from your own intuition.

What ways are you receiving intuitive guidance? Please feel free to share your intuitive experiences you’ve had in your life

Brightest Blessings to you!!!
